CPE Supervisor/Trainer

OVERVIEW

WSHO CPE Supervisory Training is a 2-year program under the direct tutelage of the WSHO President. Upon acceptance in the training program, applicants will be provided with a comprehensive training syllabus.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Current board certification credential as a chaplain or pastoral counselor
  • Documented proof of successful completion of a minimum of four quarters of CPE
  • Minimum two years post-CPE chaplain or counselor experience
  • Master's degree or PhD (Experienced and qualified Bachelor's degree holders may apply for Assistant CPE Supervisor Trainer credential)

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS NEEDED

  • Leadership/Supervisory skills (including care-frontation)
  • Communications/Interpersonal skills
  • Pastoral Counseling/Clinical skills ("Mining" emotional emeralds, relationship rubies, and spiritual sapphires)
  • Teaching skills
  • Administrative skills
  • Business skills (Recruiting, Marketing, Financial)

WORKING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

  • Personality Theories
  • Education/Teaching Styles
  • Group Dynamics
  • Transference and Counter-Transference
  • Psychopathology and Defense Mechanisms

RECOMMENDATIONS REQUIRED

  • Ecclesiastical/Pastoral Endorsement (or verification of "Member in Good Standing" from applicant's faith tradition)
  • Letter of Recommendation from two board certified professional chaplains
  • Letter of Recommendation from CPE Supervisor
  • Documented verification of undergoing 1 year of personal therapy/counseling (May obtain concurrently during CPE Supervisory Training)
  • Proof of professional liability insurance
  • Completed application with documentation
